John also said that Herod had done many other bad things. 20 Finally, Herod put John in jail, and this was the worst thing he had done.
Remember Herod from The Passion by Mel Gibson ... that movie gave me a totally different image to Herod.

I was walking the other day to Wendy's with a friend from work. As we were walking back I noticed a man being helped by a women (most likely his wife) into the Denny's next to Wendy's. He had this huge back brace on and seemed labored as he walked from his car to the restaurant ...
I realized how fortunate I am that I can even walk let alone run. I have been training for a marathon since January ... it has been very encouraging ... I am getting into shape ... feeling better about myself. I am running a 15.5 mile race this week, I have never run 15.5 miles before. When I was in nineth grade I ruptured a disc in my back causing me to miss half of the school year, lying on the couch, and recovering from surgery ... after that I never played football or lifted weights seriously again. My back still hurts once and a while, and I am reminded how "lucky" I am that I can walk, that I can run, that I am alive...
Thanks God for not letting me fall...

And by being vulgar and crude, they trap people who have barely escaped from living the wrong kind of life. 19 They promise freedom to everyone. But they are merely slaves of filthy living, because people are slaves of whatever controls them.
Peter has some harsh words to say...

To everyone who shares with us in the privilege of believing that our God and Savior Jesus Christ will do what is just and fair. 2 I pray that God will be kind to you and will let you live in perfect peace! May you keep learning more and more about God and our Lord Jesus.
Living as the Lord�s Followers
3 We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God�s own power, when we learned that he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness. 4 God made great and marvelous promises, so that his nature would become part of us. Then we could escape our evil desires and the corrupt influences of this world.
5 Do your best to improve your faith. You can do this by adding goodness, understanding, 6 self-control, patience, devotion to God, 7 concern for others, and love. 8 If you keep growing in this way, it will show that what you know about our Lord Jesus Christ has made your lives useful and meaningful. 9 But if you don�t grow, you are like someone who is nearsighted or blind, and you have forgotten that your past sins are forgiven.
2 Peter starts out kind of weird ... I pray that Jesus will do what is just and fair ... I pray God will be kind to you ... aren't all these a given in if you are a Christian ... I guess not if Peter is praying it ... this guy was crucified upside down ... I guess that wasn't to kind, fair, or just ...

Wilbanks was scheduled to get married Saturday in front of 600 guests. She told investigators in Albuquerque that she embarked on her trip without a plan, leaving on "the spur of the moment" with $140 to $150, FBI spokesman Bill Elwell said Saturday.
The stress of the wedding had gotten to her, and after the marathon runner went jogging Tuesday evening near her house in Duluth, Georgia, she took a taxi to a Greyhound bus station, where she boarded a bus to Las Vegas, Nevada, Elwell said.
"She admitted she did cut her hair on her own," he said. "She did not want anyone to recognize her. She had some idea people were looking for her."
This is one of those run-away-from-your-life-stories ... I think to myself, "Why didn't she just face the music, say she did not want to get married ... now she has made it a even bigger deal."
We had a similar situation happen to a friend of our older girls ... she lied to get something she wanted ... now I do not really understand the who story because she keeps avoiding the truth and not fessing up. This avoidance thing might work this time ... but she could be our next run-away bride.
If you are a Christian ... I believe God will always work on your character ... His goal for you to be like His Son Jesus. We can either face this character building head on and get it over with ... our we can try to avoid it...
