Monday, April 25 - Mark 14:66-15:21

21 Simon from Cyrene happened to be coming in from a farm, and they forced him to carry Jesus cross. Simon was the father of Alexander and Rufus.

What a wild experience...

The Most Important Commandment
28 One of the teachers of the Law of Moses came up while Jesus and the Sadducees were arguing. When he heard Jesus give a good answer, he asked him, 'What is the most important commandment?' 29 Jesus answered, 'The most important one says: People of Israel, you have only one Lord and God. 30 You must love him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. 31 The second most important commandment says: Love others as much as you love yourself. No other commandment is more important than these.'

Tuesday, April 19 - Mark 12:1-27

24 Jesus answered: You are completely wrong! You dont know what the Scriptures teach. And you dont know anything about the power of God. 25 When God raises people to life, they wont marry. They will be like the angels in heaven. 26 You surely know about people being raised to life. You know that in the story about Moses and the burning bush, God said, 'I am the God worshiped by Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.' 27 He isnt the God of the dead, but of the living. You Sadducees are all wrong.

I love how Jesus just tears down a foundation of their silly belief that there is no resurrection of the dead ...

22 Jesus told his disciples: Have faith in God! 23 If you have faith in God and dont doubt, you can tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it will. 24 Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith.

I need to figure this out ...

I remember a movie, I do not remember the title, but it had a character called invisiboy, who through the whole movie no one believed he had the ability to become invisible, but in the end when they really needed him, he became invisible and saved the day ...

Friday, April 15 - Mark 10:1-25

24 The disciples were shocked to hear this. So Jesus told them again, 'Its terribly hard to get into Gods kingdom! 25 In fact, its easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to get into Gods kingdom.'

We make it so hard don't we ...

Wednesday, April 13 - Mark 9:1-29

28 After Jesus and the disciples had gone back home and were alone, they asked him, 'Why couldn't we force out that demon?' 29 Jesus answered, 'Only prayer can force out that kind of demon.'

It is interesting how Jesus healed ... in this instance he said through prayer ... previously he used mud ... and he had to do it twice before the person could see ...

why is this?

34 Jesus then told the crowd and the disciples to come closer, and he said: If any of you want to be my followers, you must forget about yourself. You must take up your cross and follow me.

I like the phrase "you must forget about yourself" ... I need to do that more.

43 Jesus' disciples picked up twelve large baskets of leftover bread and fish.

I love this verse because even the leftovers was a miracle...

Thursday, April 7 - Mark 6:1-20

4 But Jesus said, 'Prophets are honored by everyone, except the people of their hometown and their relatives and their own family.' 5 Jesus could not work any miracles there, except to heal a few sick people by placing his hands on them. 6 He was surprised that the people did not have any faith.

This verse implies that Jesus usually healed droves of people ... It was also directly link to their faith...

Wednesday, April 6 - Mark 5:21-43
25 In the crowd was a woman who had been bleeding for twelve years. 26 She had gone to many doctors, and they had not done anything except cause her a lot of pain. She had paid them all the money she had. But instead of getting better, she only got worse. 27 The woman had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him in the crowd and barely touched his clothes. 28 She had said to herself, 'If I can just touch his clothes, I will get well.' 29 As soon as she touched them, her bleeding stopped, and she knew she was well. 30 At that moment Jesus felt power go out from him. He turned to the crowd and asked, 'Who touched my clothes?' 31 His disciples said to him, 'Look at all these people crowding around you! How can you ask who touched you?' 32 But Jesus turned to see who had touched him. 33 The woman knew what had happened to her. She came shaking with fear and knelt down in front of Jesus. Then she told him the whole story. 34 Jesus said to the woman, 'You are now well because of your faith. May God give you peace! You are healed, and you will no longer be in pain.'

I like this story ... it talks about faith ... and having faith. It seems her faith was in the wrong thing ... she said if I just touch Jesus' clothes I will be feeled ... why did she need to touch Jesus' clothes ... were they magical? I would guess not ... Our what about the stories in Acts where people were touching Peter's clothes. Was it the clothes that healed them ... the person wearing the clothes? Our the people's faith. Jesus said it himself, "You are now well because of your faith" ... I wonder why I do not hear of people getting healed ... maybe it is because of lack of faith ... maybe I am not listening...
