Luke 20:20-47

27 The Sadducees did not believe that people would rise to life after death.

How can you be religious and not believe in life after death?

Luke 14:7-24

23 His master then told him, "Go out along the back roads and fence rows and make people come in, so that my house will be full. 24 Not one of the guests I first invited will get even a bite of my food!"

I hope people respond to God better than this

Luke 10:38-11:23

41 The Lord answered, "Martha, Martha! You are worried and upset about so many things, 42 but only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen what is best, and it will not be taken away from her."

John 11:20
When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.

We read John 11 on Wednesday for our breakfast bible study and I thought it was interesting that Mary stayed at home. Today when I read verse 41 it was interesting that Martha was the one that "stayed at home"

Maybe Mary was mad at Jesus for not coming and healing his brother and not letting him die. Maybe she was thinking "I sat at your feet, I did the right thing, why did you let me down?"

Prayer

I was think about this verse as well ...

8 He may not get up and give you the bread, just because you are his friend. But he will get up and give you as much as you need, simply because you are not ashamed to keep on asking.

This made me think ... I need to pray more ... "simply because you are not ashamed to keep on asking..." do I give up to easily ...
