Luke 6:43-7:17

4 The leaders went to Jesus and begged him to do something. They said, "This man deserves your help! 5 He loves our nation and even built us a meeting place." 6 So Jesus went with them. When Jesus wasn’t far from the house, the officer sent some friends to tell him, "Lord, don’t go to any trouble for me! I am not good enough for you to come into my house. 7 And I am certainly not worthy to come to you. Just say the word, and my servant will get well. 8 I have officers who give orders to me, and I have soldiers who take orders from me. I can say to one of them, Go!’ and he goes. I can say to another, Come!’ and he comes. I can say to my servant, Do this!’ and he will do it."

9 When Jesus heard this, he was so surprised that he turned and said to the crowd following him, "In all of Israel I’ve never found anyone with this much faith!" 10 The officer’s friends returned and found the servant well.

Luke 6:1-19
9 Then Jesus asked, "On the Sabbath should we do good deeds or evil deeds? Should we save someone’s life or destroy it?" 10 After he had looked around at everyone, he told the man, "Stretch out your hand." He did, and his bad hand became completely well. 11 The teachers and the Pharisees were furious and started saying to each other, "What can we do about Jesus?"

I think about the teachers and the pharisees response to Jesus healing someone ... they were furious ... what a wrong response ... I have such bad responses too ... I am so focused on myself and not on others ... help me God to look to others needs and not my own ... help me not to be furious at the good you are doing around me ... thanks God for loving me ...

Luke 4:22-44

24 But you can be sure that no prophets are liked by the people of their own hometown.
25 Once during the time of Elijah there was no rain for three and a half years, and people everywhere were starving. There were many widows in Israel, 26 but Elijah was sent only to a widow in the town of Zarephath near the city of Sidon. 27 During the time of the prophet Elisha, many men in Israel had leprosy. But no one was healed, except Naaman who lived in Syria.

28 When the people in the meeting place heard Jesus say this, they became so angry 29 that they got up and threw him out of town. They dragged him to the edge of the cliff on which the town was built, because they wanted to throw him down from there. 30 But Jesus slipped through the crowd and got away.

Interesting perspective from Jesus ... people can push God away ...

Luke 3:10-38
10 The crowds asked John, "What should we do?"

Asking what you should do is always a good indicator that you have repented...

Luke 2:39-3:9

7 Crowds of people came out to be baptized, but John said to them, "You bunch of snakes! Who warned you to run from the coming judgment? 8 Do something to show that you really have given up your sins. Don’t start saying that you belong to Abraham’s family. God can turn these stones into children for Abraham. 9 An ax is ready to cut the trees down at their roots. Any tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into a fire."

Luke 1:57-80

80 As John grew up, God’s Spirit gave him great power. John lived in the desert until the time he was sent to the people of Israel.

John was in tune with God ... I have been out of tune ... God help me to get back in tune with you ...

Luke 1:26-56
37 Nothing is impossible for God!

said the angel ... Mary and Elizabeth seemed to be the only ones in on this gig ... people must have looked on Mary with shame ... being pregnant and not being married. The don't talk much about Joseph ... but an angel talked to him too ... convincing him to marry Mary even after she was pregnant.

48 God cares for me, his humble servant. From now on, all people will say God has blessed me.

But mary had the right attitude ...

Jude
18 They told you that near the end of time, selfish and godless people would start making fun of God. 19 And now these people are already making you turn against each other. They think only about this life, and they don’t have God’s Spirit. 20 Dear friends, keep building on the foundation of your most holy faith, as the Holy Spirit helps you to pray. 21 And keep in step with God’s love, as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to show how kind he is by giving you eternal life. 22 Be helpful to all who may have doubts. 23 Rescue any who need to be saved, as you would rescue someone from a fire. Then with fear in your own hearts, have mercy on everyone who needs it. But hate even the clothes of those who have been made dirty by their filthy deeds.

How do you keep in step with God's love? follow the example of Christ?

Jude seems similar to 2 Peter and James in warning against sin or God will punish us like the old testament jews. I have always thought we have a different relationship then the jews did of the old testament. Only a few people seemed to sort of posses in the old testament, prophets, king david, moses ...

We have the Holy Spirit live inside us, it even says the Holy Spirit helps us pray.

James 5

9 Don’t grumble about each other or you will be judged, and the judge is right outside the door.

I need to be less critical of people. I need to be patient and not be so quick to point out the wrong in people.

James 1
5 If any of you need wisdom, you should ask God, and it will be given to you. God is generous and won’t correct you for asking.

This is a great promise ... God has been very generous with me over the years ...

2 Peter 2:20-3:18

9 The Lord isn’t slow about keeping his promises, as some people think he is. In fact, God is patient, because he wants everyone to turn FROM sin and no one to be lost.

Thanks God that you are patient ... I hope many turn to you.

2 Peter 2:1-19

10 The Lord is especially hard on people who disobey Him and don’t think of anything except their own filthy desires. They are reckless and proud and are not afraid of cursing the glorious beings in heaven. 11 Although angels are more powerful than these evil beings, even the angels don’t dare to accuse them to the Lord.

"even the angels don't dare to accuse them to the Lord" ... this has always made me think ... what is my attitude ... do I have an attitude of humility, an attitude of non-judgement, even a blatant evil being is doing something wrong, the angels know that God already knows, and he knows you have been wronged , it might be an issue of trust, "God do you really care" attitude, "God are you out there" attitude. We need to trust that God loves us and cares for us and will and has righted the wrongs in our life and do not demand our rights ...

Thanks God for being patient with me ...
